Our gray paints come in all shades, from pale, ashy tones through to dark, stylish charcoals. Always on-trend thanks to its versatility, gray paint can be styled to suit any room in your home. Whether your aesthetic is more traditional or contemporary, gray paint can help. One option is to use a gray paint in conjunction with a feature wall to create a perfectly balanced focal point.
With over 50 different shades of gray at Graham & Brown, it’s plain to see that this versatile color has far more to offer than you might first think. From warm greys with red undertones to cool hues shot through with icy blue, gray is one of the most flexible and adaptable palettes for both traditional and chic modern homes. The subtlety of each variant brings a whole new level of sophistication into any décor, creating a balanced look with plenty of character.
Blue perfectly partners cooler grays in contemporary bathrooms or in a home office where simplicity and a calm, focused ambience are essential to boost productivity. Perfectly partner a warm-tone gray with pink to create a welcoming hallway or serene bedroom, or add a soft dove gray with neutral base tones to a green living room as an accent colour. A dash of duck egg with a cool grey makes an interesting choice in a bathroom or kitchen, where the pastel tone of the duck egg is given a little more emphasis by the understated nature of gray paint. Versatile, practical and an excellent companion to modern wallpaper, gray is an on-trend choice in any home.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are your paints water or oil based?
Each of our paints are water-based, which means they are all low odour and have a lower VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) level than any oil-based paints. It also means they are extremely quick drying, meaning you can get more out of your project in less time. Volatile Organic Compounds contribute to atmospheric pollution when they evaporate (when the paint dries), and they can be found in chemicals used across many industries such as soaps, building materials, and cleaning products.
What’s the difference between your everyday emulsion and resistance ultra durable matt emulsion?
Our Everyday Emulsion has a slight sheen. Our Resistance Ultra Flatt Matte Durable Emulsion has a 1% sheen level with Class:1 Scrubbable classification. But what does this actually mean? Our Resistance Ultra Durable Matte Emulsion is so tough that it will keep its luxurious flat matte finish even after cleaning. That’s right—no lifting paint, leaving white marks, or burnishing when you clean it. It is brilliant for high traffic areas such as hallways and living rooms because of its durability and resistance to bumps and knocks. Our Everyday Emulsion is more suited to lower traffic areas such as spare bedrooms or studies and is perfect for use on any ceilings. Please note: whilst our paints are dry to the touch within a matter of hours, water-based paints take approximately 28 days to fully cure. This is when the paint is 100% dry and has reached its full hardness/durability. Until the paint has fully cured, it will not withstand knocks or wiping/cleaning.
What finish should I use to paint wood and metal?
We would recommend either our Eggshell or Gloss paint depending on how shiny you want your woodwork or metalwork to be. Both paint finishes are scratch resistant, quick drying, odourless, and have great flow, meaning you don’t need to work hard to achieve that smooth and flawless finish. We’d also recommend using our Primer and Undercoat to ensure a smooth application and that you’re left with the best possible appearance once dry. If you’re after a matt finish on your woodwork (or perhaps your furniture), you can also use our Resistance Ultra Durable Matte Emulsion if you then protect it with a topcoat of varnish or wax.
What samples do you have available?
We offer easy to use Peel & Stick samples in our resistance finish across all of our colours. Alternatively we have 100ml tester pots available in our Everyday Emulsion across select colours. We always recommend sampling a product before purchase as colours can appear differently across screens and devices.
