Paste the Wall
- What is 'Paste-the-wall'?
-
'Paste-the-wall' uses a special backing paper that does not expand when it gets wet. As it doesn't need to soak, the paste can be applied directly to the wall which saves a lot of time compared to regular wallpapers. Therefore the product can be hung quickly and easily, cutting decorating time by half. Take a look at the video to see how easily paste the wall is hung. In this clip, we used our paste the wall beadboard to demonstrate.
- How do I hang 'Paste-the-wall' wallpapers?
-
After following the normal checks of batches and drawing a plumb line follow these 3 easy steps: Step 1: Paste the wall rather than the paper. This is the quickest, cleanest and easiest way to wallpaper as unlike conventional wallpaper you can paste the wall rather than the paper, meaning no soak time and no pasting table, cutting decorating time in half. Step 2: Hang dry straight from the roll. Because 'Paste-the-wall' products are dimensionally stable when wet there is no need to soak them. This means the product can be hung dry from the roll, with less mess. Step 3: Trim for perfect finish. Because it is hung dry 'Paste-the-wall' is easier to trim either with a knife or by running the back of your scissors along the edge of the wallpaper. This will leave a visible crease on the front and back of the wallpaper, cut along this crease and brush back into place for a perfect finish. Plus: It is easy to remove. 'Paste-the-wall' is easy to remove when you fancy a change - simply lift a corner and peel upwards to remove. RECOMMENDED: For 'Paste-the-Wall' papers we recommend priming the wall with a water based paste using a thinner consistency than what is used to hang the paper.
- Do I need to prime my wall?
-

Always first Prime (Size) the wall preferably with a wallpaper primer that can be found at your local home improvement store. Decor Questions
- Can I wallpaper without it sticking out like a sore thumb?
-
Wallpaper doesn't have to scream "look at me!" but can instead enhance what's already in the room. To keep your pattern from looking out of place, stay in the same color range as the dominant colors you already have in your space. If you want to be on the safe side, choose softer tones that don't compete with the brightest or patterns that don't clash with the busiest elements of your room. If your sofa or rug has a stripe or criss-cross pattern, for example, avoid a super-graphic print. What if your room is mostly white or beige and there isn't much color inspiration to start with? Pull in coordinating colors by matching the wallpaper tones to your accessories, whether they're rugs, vases, or lamps. This way, you can use any pattern, and it'll give the impression that it was all done together. Plus, since you already know you love those colors, it makes choosing the right hue so much easier. - Is there one room in the home that you think is best for wallpapering?
-
For first-time wallpaper DIY-ers, the best place to put it up first is a small space, like a guest bathroom. Why? You'll be more likely to take a risk with a fun pattern you may not be as likely to try in a larger room that you use more often. Plus, you'll have to buy much less paper to complete the job, which will save you cash. If you love the way it looks, consider a more subtle pattern for some of the other rooms in your home. Hint: If you decide to wallpaper your master bathroom or your kitchen, make sure you buy scrubbable wallpaper so those high-traffic areas stay clean. (Courtesy of thenest.com)
- What should I remember when I'm out shopping for wallpaper?
-
How will those designs really look inside your pad? Will they coordinate or clash with your adjoining rooms and decor? Get as many samples as you can of designs you like and tack them up to the wall at home. Then live with them for at least week and picture that design taking over the wall or room.
