Here at Graham & Brown, we love our trends and love to see how they effect, transform and inspire. We also believe that inspiration can come from everywhere and anywhere, so keeping a close eye on what’s happening in fashion, interiors, the news and beyond is vital when keeping up – to – date with the latest looks and ideas.
We will be giving you a mid-month overview of our trends, how they are being used and where they have been spotted, to give you the best possible insight on how to use them in your home!
Curio, the surreal, quirky trend that allows us to show a bit of our dark side and explore the mysterious. With a real gothic feel, this trend brings a deep, dark meaning to any outfit, room or style.
As the release of this new Graham & Brown trend is unveiled, we are going to take a look at Curio and see how it is affecting the world…
Looking outside of the interior world and onto the catwalks, Curio has clearly dominated over other trends this season allowing designers and models to create more serious and bold moods.
Marni’s Little Black Floral collection is a walking example of Curio with dark background prints and geo florals. This collection captures moody in the most light – hearted way adding graphic and textures to add more depth to the garments. This approach can also be used when styling a room, using textured cushions and textiles with your Curio wallpaper will add another dimension.
From the catwalk and onto the high street, we see ASOS, Topshop and Missguided getting into the curious spirit. ASOS in particular have even made their own Curio and made it one of their feature trends “Freaky Florals”.
Cushion from Zara Home
Looking to the high street for home, Next have gone really heavy with the oriental flowers. Whether its rugs, curtains or cushions to match your walls Next really do have florals to go with it. Another High street Home flying the flag for Curio is Zara Home. Zara home will really add a touch of luxury to your Curio setting. They offer really dramatic accessories for a room such as Tassel Curtain tie backs, a forgotten gem in the interior world! As well as tie backs, Zara really have hit it hard with this trend, with loads of moody textiles.
If we take a look at recent events and awards ceremonies, it’s also very clear that soap stars and celebrities alike can’t get enough of Curio! From the Golden Globes to the National Television Awards we see celeb upon celeb dressed head to toe in dark florals, lace and moody hues.
Moving a bit closer to home (literally!), people are going mad for Curio. Dark botanicals on upholstery will create a dramatic and luxurious feel to any room, from bedroom to kitchen. But if you are looking for something a little less permanent then why not use black lace and fabric to cover tables and chairs.
So it’s clear that everyone is going mad for Curio, so make sure you don’t miss out. Grab some wallpaper, wall art or even a bunch of flowers and bring your home out of the light and into the dark.
